The memorial hall of the electrified Hokuriku line was built neighboring the heritage center of the Nagahama line. It is a new point of sightseeing as Nagahama railway square, where the historic car of the D51 model No 793 steam locomotive which used to play an important role on the Hokuriku line and the only ED70 model No 1 AC electric locomotive which exists in Japan are displayed. And the panels and so on which explain intelligibly about the difference between AC electrification and DC electrification, AC electric trains of the whole country and the like are exhibited. The ED 70 model No1 AC electric locomotive which is displayed is one which was made together with the AC electrification of the Hokuriku line between Tamura and Tsuruga which was put into operation on October 1, 1957. It was developed based on the ED 45 model which had been tested on the Senzan line till then. 19 ED 70 model electric locomotives were made, but it is nothing but the ED 70 model No1 which was used till 1975 that exists.
