The Riverside District of Omihachiman

Kitanosho-cho, Omihachiman City, Shiga Pref.
● Summary

This riverside district is a cultural landscape in which natural environments such as Nishino-ko (the western lake) which is located in Omihachiman city, Shiga prefecture and the reed fields around there developed linking deeply with the occupations of reed industry and the like and the lives of local people who live in symbiosis with the inland lake. The canal (Hachiman-bori) which Hidetsugu Toyotomi built was connected to the Biwa lake, and there ships used to come and go. Cherry trees and Japanese irises are planted along the canal. You can enjoy each view in the four seasons.
