Ueno Tenjin Shrine Autumn Festival

The Ueno Tenjin Autumn Festival, designated as the national important intangible folk cultural property, glories in its about 400 year-history. The present Tenjin Autumn Festival is composed of the portable shrine parade showing the origin of its festival, the seal that is the base of the deity, the elegant ogres’ parade and the gorgeous tower floats’ parade. The tower floats whose lanterns are fantastic go in procession on October 23. On 24 is held the ceremony of marching in step. And the regular festival that is a parade tour is held on 25.
