● Summary |

|
|
It is said that the Ise Dai Kagura (a sacred Shinto music and dancing) which has vigorously begun to be performed since the Edo era, means the alternative Kagura that dedicates a sacred Shinto music and dancing instead of purification praying for their sound health and household safety for people who are unable to visit the Grand Shrine of Ise (Ise Jingu). In addition to a magnificent ritual dance with a lion’s mask, acrobatic feats such as spinning plates and acrobatics are performed. In the precincts of the Masuda shrine all of the sacred Shinto music and dancing are opened to the public on December 24 every year when it is crowded with many spectators. It is designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property “Ise Dai Kagura”.
