The Japan National Trust for Cultural and Natural Heritage Conservation was founded in December, 1968, under the control of the Ministry of Transport, following the example of the National Trust of Britain. The Japan National Trust works with citizens to conserve, administer and put to the best use the important natural and cultural assets of Japan so that they can be handed down to future generations. The Japan National Trust is a non-profit, tax exempt, public-benefit corporation that is supported by its members and by contributions from industry, government and private foundations. Contributions to the Japan National Trust qualify for income tax and corporate tax deductions. Gifts of property qualify for deductions in inheritance tax and capital gains tax in Japan.
